First Hypor Multiplier in the United States
Troy and Lisa Furrer’s Hilltop Swine in Wolcott, Indiana, is the first U.S. swine farm to welcome Hypor Swine. The Furrers needed to make repairs on a barn and were looking for animals to populate their updated facilities. They decided to build new barns for future generations, and Karen Lehe, DVM from Round Grove Veterinarian Services, recommended checking out the Hypor line. Their barns have now been completed, and the gilts brought in from Canada. Hilltop Swine is currently a 350-sow farm.
Troy and Lisa have four children, Joshua, 16, Michelle, 15, Laura, 13 and Angela, 10. Their community is small, rural and ag-based. The family has been farming 1,300 acres of corn and beans for 18 years. The Furrers belong to the Apostolic Christian Church and are very active with their church community. Hobbies include woodworking, 4-H, hunting, and Lisa has a scrap booking business. They also own two horses, Jack and Grace.
