With effect from January 1, 2016, Johan van Arendonk will join Hendrix Genetics as Chief Innovation & Technology Officer. Van Arendonk will take over the role of Gerard Albers, who will become Director Innovations for Hendrix Genetics Innovations B.V. - a new entity designed to foster innovations beyond the scope of current R&D projects. The changes at Senior R&D Management level will support further expansion of Hendrix Genetics’ innovation base and strengthen the R&D activities focus.
In his new role, Johan will be responsible for the global R&D strategy of Hendrix Genetics. He will lead Hendrix Genetics Research and Technology Center and Breeding IT department, as well as elevate the R&D programs for all Hendrix Genetics’ Business Units in close cooperation with the respective R&D Directors. Johan will be a member of the Hendrix Genetics’ Management Committee and spokesperson for all Hendrix Genetics Research &Technology subjects.
With an MSc in Animal Sciences and PhD in Animal Breeding and Farm Economics (both awarded with Cum Laude honors), Johan has worked with Wageningen University & Research (UR), in the Netherlands in various positions in the field of animal breeding and genomics since 1985. He is currently Professor and Head of the Animal Breeding and Genomics Center and Dean of Sciences at Wageningen UR.
Hendrix Genetics Innovations B.V. is a brand new entity that will foster innovations beyond the scope of R&D of Hendrix Genetics’ current Business Units. As Director Innovations, Gerard will lead development of innovative product- and services concepts and will steer an innovations portfolio of projects and ventures that provide a sound mix of short- and long term returns.
